LEARNING LANGUAGES WITH COMMON CORE STANDARDS:

 

STANDARD 1:Students prepare for and participate effectively in a range of conversations and collaborations with diverse partners, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively.  ( CCSS-ELA :Speaking and Listening 1)

 

STANDARD 2: Students write arguments to support claims in analysis of substantive topics or texts using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence. ( CCSS-ELA :Writing 1)

 

STANDARD 3: Students present information, findings, and supporting evidence such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning. ( CCSS-ELA :Speaking and Listening 4)

 

STANDARD 4: Students examine compare and reflect on the practices, and/or perspectives of the target culture.  ( CCSS-ELA :Reading 2)

 

STANDARD 5: Students examine compare and reflect on the products, and/or perspectives of the target culture. ( CCSS-ELA :Reading 2)

 

STANDARD 6: Students conduct short as well as more sustained research projects based on focused questions, demonstrating understanding of other disciplines through the target language. ( CCSS-ELA :Writing7)

 

STANDARD 7:  Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research that are only available through the target language and its cultures. ( CCSS-ELA :Writing 9)

 

STANDARD 8:Students write informative and explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content of the language and one’s own. ( CCSS-ELA :Writing 2)

 

STANDARD 9:Students read and comprehend complex literary and informational texts independently and proficiently to compare the culture studied and one’s own culture. ( CCSS-ELA :Reading 10)

  

STANDARD 10:  Students read and comprehend complex literary and informational texts independently and proficiently within the communities of the target language and beyond the school settings. ( CCSS-ELA :Reading 10)

 

STANDARD 11:  Students apply knowledge of language to understand how language functions in different contexts, to make effective choices for meaning or style, and to comprehend more fully when reading or listening for personal enjoyment and enrichment. ( CCSS-ELA :Language 3)

 

STANDARD 12:  Students acquire and use accurately a range of general academic and domain-specific words and phrases sufficient for reading, writing, speaking, and listening at the college and career readiness level. ( CCSS-ELA :Language 6)
