Description
This course is an introduction to the Spanish language and culture. The student develops the skills of correct pronunciation through oral drill with a selected active vocabulary, accurate comprehension of the printed word, usage of the vocabulary, and grammar in elementary composition and conversation. The student will present short oral and written reports in correct form and write Spanish form dictation.

El dormitorio de mis sueños

Objective:
Using a shoe box you will create a 3-D bedroom, labeling each item in your bedroom in Spanish. You can use magazine cutouts, drawings, clip arts, or play-doh, to create your ideal bedroom. (You must make each item in your bedroom.) Afterwards, use the lid of your shoe box, to write a short paragraph in Spanish describing your ideal bedroom. (Please type and glue to the lid of your shoe box.)
On the day of the Written Final Exam you will give an oral presentation in Spanish describing your ideal bedroom.
Standard 1&2: Goal to talk in the target language about your ideal bedroom and to be able to listen to descriptions of bedrooms and give information about personal preferences.

Possible Points: 150pts- 20% of your grade.

Requirement: Must label at least 8 items using your Spanish vocabulary. All items must be made not bought. Must include a typed description of your ideal bedroom. (Refer to pg. 272)

Presentation
Below Expectations:      You list less than 8 items in your ideal bedroom, and did not use the required vocabulary or didn’t include paragraph description. Some labeling in English and grammar and spelling errors. Looks like a shoe box with items not a bedroom.
At Expectations:           You labeled at least 14 items in the bedroom in Spanish and included a paragraph description using required vocabulary. Some grammar and spelling errors.
Above Expectations:     You labeled at least 14 items or more in the bedroom in Spanish and included a detailed paragraph description using required vocabulary. Few grammar and spelling errors.

    Family Project
    Objective: Your objective is to create a video and poster that represents your family.
    Poster: (40pts)
    The poster must resemble a family tree including grandparents, parents, and cousins. You must illustrate each other relationships using possessive adjectives (Refer to pg. 222 in your textbook) you can use clipart, drawings or actual pictures on your family tree poster. Poster must be completed in class.
    Video: (50 pts)
    As a group you must videotape a skit describing your family members. You must have a theme (birthday, sporting event etc,) You must use
    • Tener to describe age
    • Possessive adjectives to describe relationships
    • Gustar to describe likes/dislikes
    • Vocabulary from pg. 244 to talk about family event
    • You must include a Spanish song in your video that represents the Latin culture. Make sure it is appropriate.
    • Video will be recorded on campus so you will be held accountable for your behavior.

    Objective:  Imagine you are doing some research for your health class on good eating and exercise habits.  Now make a poster (8 ½ x 11) in Spanish with 5 suggestions for better health.  Make sure you use clip art or illustrations and be ready to present. No cue cards!  Must be memorized.
