About Mr. Miller

Mr. Miller bitmojiHello students, parents, and community members!  My name is Mr. Steve Miller.  I will be the teacher librarian at Chatsworth Charter High School beginning Fall 2022.

I have been with the Los Angeles Unified School District for 22 years.  In those years, I have taught students ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade.  I have taught both as an English teacher and as a teacher librarian.  I have a strong interest in educational technology and try to use it as much as possible when I'm teaching.  So, my students will frequently use technology (mobile devices and Chromebooks) to complete their work.

I live with my wife, Mariela; my daughter, Abigail; our dog, Enzo; and two guinea pigs, Bella and Fiona.

My daughter Abby and my dog EnzoThis is Enzo and Abigail.  Enzo is 14 years old.  We rescued him from the Camarillo Animal Shelter.  He is such a character.  He's the funniest little dog.  Brave in appearance. Coward by nature.  Abigail is about to turn 9 (this is an old picture).  She's just finished third grade this year.  Abigail right now is really into Anime, singing, dancing, drawing, Judo, and video games.  There, unfortunately, is no picture of my wife.  She threatened my life when I suggested putting a picture of her on the website.  I value my life, so here's a picture of just my daughter and dog. :)

This is one of guinea pigs, Bella.

This is Bella.  Bella is the second guinea pig we've ever owned.  Rainbow, our first, passed away.

This is my second guinea pig, Bella.
This is Fiona.  We got Fiona as a companion to Bella.  However, they don't really like each other much, except when they're getting a bath.  Misery loves company, I guess.
I received my Associate of Arts degree in Humanities from College of the Canyons in 1997.  Then; after transferring to California State University, Northridge; I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2000.  After graduating, I dabbled in the world of publishing but decided to become a teacher.  I received my California Single Subject Teaching Credential in English from CSUN in 2003.  While teaching, I earned both my Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and California Administrative Services Credential in 2005 and my California Teacher Librarian Services credential in 2010.  In addition to all that, I also have my supplementary authorization to teach Introductory Mathematics and Computer Concepts and Applications. Whew! I would love to earn my Master of Library and Information Science degree, but I think 15 years of post-secondary education is plenty.
