The top-seeded Chancellors (23-5) defeated No. 8 Taft, 5-2, today at Chatsworth in a quarterfinal game of the City Section playoffs.

 

Left-hander Aaron Brown, right, pitched five-plus innings, recording eight strikeouts to earn the victory. Brown also contributed two hits, including a run-scoring groundrule double.

 

With the Chancellors clinging to a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, right fielder Raul Camas broke the game open with a two-run home run.

 

Chatsworth will face Lake Balboa Birmingham in a semifinal game Wednesday at USC at 3 p.m.
