Eligibility and Enrollment Criteria
Gifted Magnet Programs, coordinated by Student Integration Services, offer self-contained classes and place emphasis on developing higher-level thinking skills in a demanding academic program for students who are entering grades 1–12. Interested parents/guardians may submit a paper application or apply online at https://eChoices.lausd.net by the mid-November Choices deadline. (Please see eChoices website for details.) WHEN APPLYING TO ONE OF THE GIFTED/HIGH ABILITY OR HIGHLY GIFTED MAGNET PROGRAMS LISTED ABOVE, APPLICANTS MUST:
- Be verified as eligible to apply by the current school of attendance or
- Be identified as Gifted by an LAUSD GATE psychologist in the Intellectual, High Achievement, Specific Academic Ability, Creative Ability, or Leadership Ability Categories. For Highly Gifted Magnets, applicants must be identified by an LAUSD GATE Psychologist as Highly Gifted (HG) or Highly Gifted Applicable (HGA).
- Have Gifted identification results on file prior to the magnet application deadline.
- Reside within the LAUSD boundaries at the time of application and while participating in the magnet program.
