This course is an elective designed for those students who are interested in careers involving children (teaching, childcare worker/ owner, toy designer, social worker, pediatrics…). Emphasis in this class will be on child development stages and theory, career exploration and preparation, child care practices, curriculum development, as well as the proper maintenance and operation of a preschool. During the second semester of this year long course, students will participate in an off campus internship program.  These students will have the opportunity to work with child care and education professionals in our community.  At the close of the school year, students will complete a final portfolio that will include work samples, off campus evaluations, and resumes. This portfolio can be used to demonstrate the student’s range of knowledge and abilities to future employers.
