Extra Credit Book Report Assignment

Select a book written by an American author between 1500-1800AD. Book choice must be approved by me prior to beginning project. After reading it, write a 3 page report typed, double-spaced that includes the following information with each section labeled:

1. Summary. One page. Include all of the relevant events that occur in the book.

2. Character Analysis. Half Page. Discuss the main characters and supporting characters of the story. Explain each character, their traits and characteristics, and what they bring to the novel.

3. Conflict Analysis. Half Page. Identify and discuss all the conflicts in the story. For each conflict, state whether it is internal or external. If external, further explain which type (man vs. man, etc). Make sure to explain each conflict thoroughly.

4. Reflection. One Page. Questions to discuss: What is the theme of the book? What did you think of the book? Would you recommend it to a friend? Who do you think would like to read it? Did you like the ending? Was there anything you would change about the book? Are there any with which you characters you identify? Does the book remind you of another book or movie? Basically explain your opinion of the book, and what went through your head as you were reading it.

Book Report is worth up to a total of 20 points. A paper containing any plagiarism will be given a score of zero. The book report must be submitted via email to [email protected] by Sunday, November 29, 2015. Please do not cut and paste document into email text. Please submit as either a word doc, google doc, or pdf . Late papers will not be accepted. Earlier submission is ok.

Email me with any questions, or for clarification.

Textbooks

Textbooks are a crucial part of this class, and should be brought to class everyday unless specifically indicated.

On days we do not use textbooks in class, they should be kept in your locker.
