AP Physics 1 is equivalent to the freshmen level Physics offered for Non-Science majors/programs at most universities. The prerequisite mathematics course needed for AP Physics 1 is Algebra 2. It can be taken concurrently if the student was highly successful in Geometry.
Students enrolled in AP Physics 1 will need to have a graphing calculator (TI 83 plus, TI 84, TI 86, TI 89 or equivalent) and a plain scientific calculator as well. It is also recommended that students purchase an AP Physics 1 Exam Prep book. Most of the brands are adequate, but I recommend the Princeton Review or Kaplan.
