ELAC English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
Comite Consejeros para Alumnos Aprendiendo Ingles de la Escuela Local
The purpose of ELAC is to provide the parents of English Learner students with an opportunity to participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of core and support programs for students who are learning English. ELAC members advise the school on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), the school’s needs assessment, and efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance. Each school’s ELAC Committee also has the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC), which advises the school district Board of Trustees on matters affecting English Learner students.
La función mas importante del ELAC es aconsejar y hacer recomendaciones por escrito al director, personal escolar, y los consejos escolares del Plantel Educativo (SSC, por sus siglas en ingles) sobre la implementación y evaluación del Plan Maestro y de los servicios para Aprendices de Ingles. Los miembros del comité participaran en sesiones de capacitación que les suministren las habilidades y prácticas necesarias para cumplir con sus responsabilidades.
