Past & Present Student Voice
Resilience is a key component in a persons journey through high school, college and careers. All of us will experience some kind of adversity. What's very impressive is that we are survivors and bounce back after problems. Even more impressive is that we all have the potential to get even better at being resilient.
People gain experience by seeing, listening, doing. Here, we want to focus on the remarkable benefits of sharing the lessons learned during those stories. Real, relevant autobiographical storytelling can build strength for the story teller and the listener. Sharing your journey provides the means to help others on theirs.
Autobiographical storytelling means writing about events and people that have mattered to you in your own life; not just describing the facts. By telling a story each generation gains wisdom through folk songs, rituals, and celebrations that last over the generations.
At CCHS we incorporate these practices in our culture.
