I have been working in Education for 10 years now and continue to feel incredibly grateful to learn and grow alongside my students. My role is to help my students think for themselves; to help them discover what they already know. Adding to my work in Education, I am also a published writer and food blogger, focusing on Iraqi food and culture in the diaspora as a way to reverse stigmatizing and dehumanizing narratives of Iraq and Iraqis. I am also a founding member of Iraqi Narratives, an oral history project in collaboration with California State University at Long Beach.
