Principal's Message

Tim Guy, Principal

As the proud principal of Chatsworth Charter High School it is our mission to ensure that all of our students are college prepared and career ready. This means that the faculty, support staff, and administrators will do all we can to have our students prepared to be successful for life after high school. As parents/guardians you must do all you can to emphasize to your son/daughter the importance of good grades, appropriate behavior/dress, good citizenship, academic integrity, attendance, and personal accountability.

The 2016-17 school year brings about many new changes for our school and the entire District. This year we will return to the traditional six-period bell schedule and school will begin at 7:45 a.m. and end at 2:37 p.m. Additionally, we have added an Advisory period in lieu of Homeroom and we have a new Gaming-Arts-Media-Engineering (G.A.M.E.) Academy. This academy will focus primarily on practical real-world applications in game design and creative media through performance, collaboration, and production in artistic and technological fields such as film, art, computer programming, and digital imaging. Graduates will emerge as strong collaborators, forward thinkers, and self-directed individuals in an ever-changing and technological society.

Continuing for next year at Chatsworth is the TAP attendance program; students are limited to five (5) absences per semester. Additionally, students are required to meet all A-G requirements (please see your child’s counselor for additional graduation requirements). Remember, students enrolled in athletics, band, drill team, choir, dance, drama, leadership, Link Crew and any other extracurricular and co-curricular activities must have a “C” or better in order to participate.

Our continuing commitment is for our students to strive to be the best academically, socially, and emotionally which entails students getting involved in all facets of Chatsworth Charter High School and becoming well-rounded individuals. Moreover, each student should make a commitment to earn the highest grade in every class and score Proficient or better on the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Interim and Summative tests.

Our rich traditions and pursuit of excellence make Chatsworth Charter High School the choice for an outstanding educational experience.

We wish all of you a restful summer and look forward to the 2016-2017 school year.

Timothy Guy, Ed.D.
