CCHS DETENTION POLICY

Approved 10/3/17 by CCLC

All detentions MUST be completed by the end of the marking period (10 & 20 week grades) that they were assigned in.

  1. Parents may be notified of detention progress at the end of each marking period either by mail, phone, or conference, if there is a balance of detentions not served.

  1. Conferences will be scheduled on an individual basis at the discretion of the Dean's / Administration.

Detentions will be reviewed each marking period (10 & 20 week grades) to determine if students are meeting set "detention-served" goals as follows:

Students who fail to meet their obligations each grading period are considered to be defiant and face additional consequences. Additional interventions/consequences may be implemented by a discipline dean for students not meeting their goals. Detentions must be cleared to be removed from TAP.

Possible consequences of not serving detentions may include but are not limited to:

  1. Ineligible to participate in student activities such as sports, band, chorus, leadership roles, after school clubs, field trips, dances, prom, graduation, etc.

  1. Conference with parents, Dean, and Administrator in charge.

SERVING DETENTION

There are many options for serving detentions. The following is a list of when and how detention may be served. In special circumstances other options may be approved by a Dean or Administrator prior to serving the detention. 1 Detention= 30 minutes

Detentions may be served:

  1. Thursdays after school with the Dean (report to C-9 or C-10) for 1 hour after school from 2:45 pm–3:45 pm.
  2. Lunch with your counselor.
  3. Campus beautification on Thursdays. If students decide to serve their detention through campus beautification, each 30 minutes served will be credited for two detentions served.
  4. Community service with prior approval from the Dean.
  5. After School tutoring.
