Why We Joined Linked Learning

 

To create a community for learners who provide meaningful educational opportunities through the medical sciences pathway that prepares our students to succeed in the global social economy.

 
 
Mission Statement
 
The purpose of Linked Learning within the Medical Academy is to provide students with volunteer, internship, college preparation and career/personal development opportunities. Our goal is to connect the knowledge and skills that students learn in a High School classroom with real life work experience in the medical field. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to learn about topics such as career exploration, resume building, job interview tips, and college/major choice through .
 
 
Volunteer Opportunities
 
  • West Hills Hospital and Medical Center
Students must:
Be 15 yrs or older
Commit to 100 volunteer hours
Be tested for TB & provide immunization record
Provide 2 references (ex. teachers, counselors, coaches)
Provide Parental consent if under 18
  • Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center
Interested students must attend the information session on Thursday November 6th (5:00 PM)

Students must:
Complete a 500 word essay elaborating on why you want to volunteer.
(500 word essay can be typed and attached to the application)
Be tested for TB & provide immunization record
Provide Parental consent if under 18
  • West Valley Animal Shelter
Students must:
Be 16 yrs or older
Provide 2 references (ex. teachers, counselors, coaches)
Consent to a criminal background check
 
  • We Rock the Spectrum Gym Kids (Play center aimed at developing the interpersonal skills of children with Autism)
