Chancellors Start Playoffs Against L.A. University

 
The Chancellors will meet L.A. University on Wednesday in a first-round game of the City Section Division I playoffs at Chatsworth at 3 p.m.
 
 
ABOUT CHATSWORTH: The No. 3-seeded Chancellors (21-10) are seeking their 10th City Section title, ninth under Coach Tom Meusborn and seventh since 2001 … The nine titles are a City Section record … Chatsworth made a record seven consecutive appearances in the championship game from 2003 to 2009 … From 2000 to the present, the Chancellors have won 41 Division I playoff games, more than any other team.
 
 
ABOUT UNIVERSITY: The No. 19-seeded Wildcats (21-10-1) finished third in the Western League with an 8-4 record. They beat Lake Balboa Birmingham, 3-2, in a wild-card game last week. Chatsworth is 6-3 all-time versus University ... Chatsworth is 2-0 versus University in the playoffs. The Chancellors beat the Wildcats, 6-4, in the first round in 1996 and 4-0 in the first round in 2001.  
 
 
COACH TOM MEUSBORN: In his 24th season with the Chancellors … His record of 619-126-4 is the best ever in the state for a coach with 100 victories or more … Meusborn has won eight City titles, the most by a City Section coach … Meusborn’s record in the playoffs is 67-15.
