Chancellors Beat San Fernando, 4-3, in Semifinals

LOS ANGELES Designated hitter Ricky Obando drove in the winning run with a two-strike, two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Chancellors (28-4-1) a 4-3 victory over San Fernando (28-6) today in a City Section Division 1 playoff semifinal game at USC.
 
 
 
Second-seeded Chatsworth will play top-seeded El Camino Real (21-12) for the City title Saturday at 1 p.m. at Dodger Stadium. El Camino Real beat San Pedro, 2-1, in the other semifinal game. Chatsworth and El Camino Real finished tied for rirst place in the West Valley League but the Conquistadores won a coin flip to determine the No. 1 representative from the league in the playoffs.
 
 
 
After San Fernando tied the score, 3-3, in the seventh inning, the Chancellors rallied with one out when left fielder Justin Vega was hit by a pitch and first baseman Chris DeVito singled. Then, with two outs, Obando hit a line drive to left field to drive in Vega with the winning run.
 
 
 
Right-hander Jason Karkenny picked up the victory in relief of left-hander Kiefer Kofman. DeVito had three hits.
