Chancellors Beat Taft in Playoff Game

The Chancellors advanced to the City Section Division 1 playoff semifinals with an 11-1, five-inning victory over Woodland Hills Taft today at Chatsworth.
 
 
 
Chatsworth (27-4-1) will face San Fernando on Wednesday at USC at 3 p.m. The game originally was set for Thursday but was changed because of a scheduling conflict. The winner will move on to the championship game June 2 at Dodger Stadium. San Fernando defeated Birmingham, 2-0, in a quarterfinal game.
 
 
 
The Chancellors scored all 11 runs against Taft in the third inning with the aid of seven walks and two hit batsmen. Right-hander Jason Karkenny gave up four hits in five innings, and shortstop Jared Holley and right fielder Justin Vega each drove in two runs.
