The major emphasis of the course is to provide the student with greater opportunities to fine-tune the communication skills acquired during previous years. The course focuses on Common Core Standards in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish. Texts from throughout the Spanish culture are discussed.

Ancient Civilization Shoe box project

Objectives: Students are to create a 3-D illustration in a shoe box which depicts an indigenous group from a Latin American country. Shoe box must have several images which include colorful illustrations and labels in the target language and at least two 3-D illustrations that are the focal point of the shoe box. Afterwards, use the lid of your shoe box, to write a journal entry describing information in Spanish about the ancient civilization. (Please type and glue to the lid of your shoe box.) You will be presenting during Written Finals. No late projects will be accepted! 

Requirements for Journal entry must include:
An entry by a archeologist describing the:
Name of civilization
Origin/Location
Professions
Language Spoken
Type of visual art
Clothing they wore
Legends or myths
Transportation

Grammar:
Must use future tense, preterite, imperfect tense, subjunctive.

Standard 1&2: Goal to talk in the target language about an ancient civilization using the different grammar tenses learned this semester and to be able to listen to descriptions of ancient civilizations and give information about different Latin American civilizations.

Possible Points: 150pts- 20% of your grade.

More Requirements: Must label at least 8 items using your Spanish vocabulary. All items must be made not bought. Must include a typed description of your ancient civilization. Must bring a printout of sources used for ancient civilizations.

Spanish 3B Oral Final Study Guide
These are the short answer questions for the Oral Final Exam. All questions must be answered before you are tested for the Oral Final. Study! Testing begins May 21. You will be asked 2 question each worth 50 pts. or 1 question worth 100pts. No retakes…Must be taken in class!

• Usando el vocabulario aprendido, describe con detalle sobre lo que tú buscas en una amistad, y lo que te molesta. Después, dime cuántos amigos tienes, cómo se llaman y en que actividades participan. ( Debes incluir algunos usos del subjuntivo también.)

• Habla de tu futuro. Incluye la universidad a la que piensas asistir y la carrera que vas a estudiar o el trabajo que vas a hacer después de graduarte de la escuela secundaria. Habla del lugar donde piensas vivir, viajes que vas a hacer y adónde, si te vas a casar y tener hijos o si te vas a quedar soltero(a), etc. (Usa el futuro y futuro perfecto)

• Discute las civilizaciones maya y azteca. Menciona sus contribuciones y creencias, y describe cómo son similares.

Objective : To write a letter in the target language using your key vocabulary and grammar concepts learned in Chp 5. You will be writing a letter describing why you are the best candidate for a job opening. The letter has to reflect the two classified ads you created from your chosen career. You will then be presenting the letter by reading it in class.
 
STANDARD 8:Students write informative and explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content of the language and one’s own. ( CCSS-ELA :Writing 2)
 
Requirements: Must be typed! Will not accept hand written copies!
 
When you write your letter you should be thinking about:
• The person you are writing to.
• The reason why you are the best candidate.
• Why you are the right person they should hire to resolve their problem?
• How you are going to invite the employer to take action and call you or hire you?
